Ideastone Philosophy

Mission Statement

The purpose of Ideastone is to help grow other enterprises in a God honoring way. To that end, Ideastone will strive to be moral, ethical, and socially responsible to its employees, clients, and community.

Christian Philosophy

Ideastone is guided by the central teachings and commandments of the bible. As it was said in Matthew 22:36-40:

"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And He said to him, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.", This is the great and foremost commandment. "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

As a company Ideastone strives to live out that philosophy by helping our fellow man. The greatest way that we can love the Lord our God is to show love to his people, that is to love our neighebors as ourselves. We believe that we are best when we are serving each other, instead of just serving ourselves.  The most effective customer service comes when the needs of the customer come before the desires of ourselves.

Open Source Company

Ideastone supports open software wherever prudent and possible. We all benefit from the open ecosystem that open source software such as Linux, Apache, PHP, Open Office, etc. provide. The economic value derived from such software is significant because it lowers barriers to entry by solving common software problems in an open way.

At the same time Ideastone supports the right of all software creators to charge and license their software in any way that they desire. A fully funded paid software ecosystem has benefits as well and many open software projects have started as paid projects only to later be given away as free tools. Thus, it is imperative that both an open and a paid software ecosystem exist.
